The Football Club has been in existence since before the Second World War, running a first eleven and reserve team for many years, indeed the reserve team was only disbanded three seasons ago.

Marston has spent their entire time competing in the Bedford and District League, working their way up to the Premier Division. Many players remained loyal to the club, spending many seasons with them. This is still the case, with today’s squad containing several long serving members.

As previously mentioned, the reserves had to be disbanded as the first team was relegated from the Premier Division with several first team players leaving for pastures new, necessitating the promotion of several reserve team players. The following season saw the team again relegated, this time to the second division. At this point the club nearly folded due to lack of finances, interest and organisation.

However, a new Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer were appointed and financial backing was obtained and restructuring was put in place.

The club is sponsored by the local pub where we enjoy refreshment after training and matches.

So, to date, last season nearly resulted in a third consecutive relegation, however, a late season revival ensured survival.

This season much work was done on the training ground during the summer to improve fitness, technique, tactics and organisation and a good pre-season was followed by early season success. Recently we have been a bit inconsistent but remain in touch with the leaders. There is certainly more belief within the club that we will be able to reproduce the success of previous teams.
